Professional Nurse Advancement Program

The Memorial Hermann Professional Nurse Advancement Program (PNAP) is a performance-based career advancement program, supported by the Magnet Model® framework and a comprehensive performance evaluation system that promotes high-quality patient care and contributes to positive patient outcomes.

PNAP recognizes and rewards our direct care nurses for their professional contributions to the practice environment and accomplishments in accordance with indicators of clinical expertise and contributions to their team and the organization. PNAP nurses receive a monetary reward for their participation and PNAP advancement.

The theoretical framework for the PNAP is based on nursing theorist Dr. Patricia Benner’s stages of expertise and the American Nurses Association’s Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice©. The optional program consists of two levels: PNAP-P (Proficient) and PNAP-E (Expert) that provide flexible choices of professional activities to meet interests and talents of the nurses and needs of the organization.
